Empowering families, organizations, and communities to cultivate healthy culture, emotional wellness, mental health, and trauma prevention and recovery through expert consulting and coaching services
Amanda specializes in creating a calm, coherent dialogue around trauma, sexual assault, violence, mental health issues, suicide, and resilience. She also researches and advises on organizational culture issues. Amanda is a speaker, researcher, coach, and educator. She believes solutions to any organizational issue can be found in the hearts and minds of an organization’s members, provided they are given a safe and inclusive space to speak up and collaborate.
Amanda’s experience helping individuals and organizations overcome hurdles began in 2007 when she started leading training for colleges regarding sexual assault prevention and response. In 2012, she was hired to help the Air Force Chaplain Corps at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base bring its programs and services into compliance with Air Force regulations, establish healthy culture, and provide appropriate services for military members and their families. She commissioned into the Air Force as an officer in 2017, and cross-commissioned into the Space Force in 2020. In 2021, Amanda designed and led a culture study to develop the identity for the military's first-ever orbital warfare organization, Delta 9.
During her time on Active Duty, Amanda advised senior military leaders, commanders, and frontline supervisors on sexual assault prevention and response, mental health, and DEIA issues. She developed and conducted training for Sexual Assault Response Coordinators and Victim Advocates throughout the Air Education and Training Command, as well as multiple training events for individual bases. She designed and led mental health workshops, burnout recovery training, and suicide prevention training.
After retiring from the military, Amanda founded a consulting firm that eventually transformed into First Point Strategies, LLC.
Amanda’s clients include the United States Air Force and Space Force, state universities pursuing solutions to DEIA issues within STEM programs, high school and juvenile recovery programs whose students struggle with trauma and mental health issues, and non-profits seeking best practices for response to trauma and sexual assault. She has also conducted culture assessments for organizations in the process of mergers and acquisitions.
Amanda's key 2023 speaking engagements include annual conferences for the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault and the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma.
Amanda holds a Master of Public Administration, is a Board-Certified Coach through the Center for Credentialing & Education, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Community Health Education. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Kyle.
